Discovery Learning
Learning by discovery characterizes the Lower Elementary grades where hands-on, open-ended exploration allows children to develop natural curiosity and investigative skills. Instruction is thoughtfully planned to create meaningful connections between subject areas and to demonstrate applicability to real life. Over the course of the lower elementary years, students gain confidence in literacy and mathematics, and move to upper elementary grades able to assuredly express their thought processes and reasoning related to these areas of study. These foundational studies are supplemented and enhanced by time spent in Library, Phys Ed, Religion, Spanish, and STREAM coursework.
