Marriage

In the Sacrament of Matrimony, male and female completely give themselves to one another to form a covenant before God. Through the sacrament Jesus gives the couple the grace to love each other in the same way Jesus loves his Church. As the love that Jesus has for the Church is permanent and generates life, so it is in the marital covenant, permanent and open to the beauty of children. Jesus tells us in Mark’s Gospel, But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female. For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, no human being must separate. (10:6-9)”

Congratulations on your engagement! Engaged couples should contact one of our priests before making any wedding arrangements. To further explore the Sacrament of Matrimony, grow spiritually, and spend some time in prayer and conversation before the wedding date, a Pre-Cana program is offered through our parish. Please call the rectory to begin your marriage preparation.
