Anointing of the Sick

Through the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus remains with his people and desires to bring them healing and wholeness. In the Scriptures St. James tells us, “Is anyone among you sick? He should summon the presbyters of the church, and they should pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise them up. If they have committed any sins, their sins will be forgiven them. (5:14-15)” Through the laying on of hands, priests pray for the healing power of the Holy Spirit to bring spiritual strength and/or physical healing to those who are sick or near death.

Our priests are happy to provide this sacrament at any time. Please ask at Mass, stop in the rectory during business hours, call the rectory for an appointment, or dial the rectory’s emergency line for an immediate need.
